Nice video card, but don't buy it.

bystevelarrison Jan 17, 2003

Pros 128MB of RAM and fast GPU make using FSAA possible
Cons Obsolete. Radeon 9700 is faster, GeforceFX shipping in March
Recommended it? No

Those are harsh words, especially for a video card that I own, but as someone who knows what is happening in the PC marketplace, I can only advise you to stay away from this card right now.

Of course, the key words are right now. You may ask yourself why timing has anything to do with the... Read full review »

I Love My VisionTek Ti4600

bymjdart Dec 15, 2002

Pros Very powerful and compatible
Cons Cost, but it's coming down
Recommended it? Yes

I just replaced my nVIDIA GeForce 3 Ti200 with a spanking new Visiontek Xtasy Ti4600. I have a new Dell 8200 and it fit in my AGP slot without a hitch. Now my power supply is only rated at 250 Watts so I am counting on Dell being a bit conservative with their ratings and so far everything is fine... Read full review »

ATI RADEON X1800 XL: Supersized graphics power?

bytheuerkorn Nov 23, 2005
35 Helpfuls 36 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Shader 3.0 support, Crossfire ready, reasonable power consumption, reasonable price, good...
Cons Not SLI compatible, still expensive, long card, relatively low OpenGL performance
Recommended it? Yes

In light of the revised nVidia 7800 GTX 512, ATI's Radeon X1800 XL may appear a little handicapped, and by raw numbers that's even true. However, considering money, the lofty 7800 GTX and ATI's response, the Radeon x1800 XT, are in a completely different league with additional $150 to $300 that has... Read full review »

horrible

Pros crossfire support(if you can find the right mo-bo. Pci-express x16.
Cons ran games horribly(literally worse than a geforce 6600 gt).
Recommended it? No

Bought as a replacement for a x700 that wasn't living up to standards. Ran very low framerates and unlike what Ati says AVIVO doesn't improve DVD quality, drivers are very very slow, and the GPU failed after 30 days. Ati was no help, and I never heard back from them. Pitched it and went with the... Read full review »
