ATI RADEON X1800 XL: Supersized graphics power?

bytheuerkorn Nov 23, 2005
35 Helpfuls 36 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Shader 3.0 support, Crossfire ready, reasonable power consumption, reasonable price, good...
Cons Not SLI compatible, still expensive, long card, relatively low OpenGL performance
Recommended it? Yes

In light of the revised nVidia 7800 GTX 512, ATI's Radeon X1800 XL may appear a little handicapped, and by raw numbers that's even true. Pros crossfire support(if you can find the right mo-bo. Pci-express x16.
Cons ran games horribly(literally worse than a geforce 6600 gt).
Recommended it? No

Pitched it and went with the... Read full review »

Pros -Excellent performance
-Good cooling
-Lots of GDDR5 memory
Cons -Slower than 7970 for similar prices
-expensive
Recommended it? No

With the release of the Radeon 7970, this GPU is no longer the most powerful single GPU out there, but is still incredibly powerful, and more than enough to handle all modern games. I am currently using this GPU in my sustem, with an Intel I5-2500K and 8 gigs of RAM. I can play any game (BF3,... Read full review »
